Roadmates is a technology marketplace that helps independent users find one another for voluntary long-distance cost-sharing arrangements. Drivers post trips they are already taking, and passengers heading the same way share the real cost of gas and tolls. It is not a fare and not a business.
Roadmates is not a transportation company, taxi, limousine or bus service, or common carrier. It does not employ or act as the agent of any driver or rider, and it does not own or operate any member's vehicle. Drivers and riders independently decide whether to travel together.
Trips are at least 80 driving miles and can run between any two places in the United States. Each passenger's share is calculated from the actual driving distance, fuel and tolls, split evenly across the seats.
Roadmates requires identity verification and admin approval as part of its trust and safety process. Verification does not guarantee a user's conduct or the safety of any particular ride.
